Its time to start thinking about your food plots!!!

Right now is a great time to get going on food plots.

Thinking about putting in new plots? Start assessing your property and identifying advantages and disadvantages. Obtain copies of topo maps, aerial photos, forest management plans, soils maps, etc. that could help with initial planning. Take notes...sun direction, water sources, and locations of thick cover, mature woods, successional vegetation and open fields.

Take soil samples and have the pH test done. UNDERSTAND what soil pH is and how it can affect the growth of your plants. Shamel Milling provides free pH testing in our store. Bring in a dry sample and we will make a lime, fertilizer and seed recommendation for you.

Frost Seeding. Its still not too late to do your frost seeding if you are looking to install or over-seed an existing clover plot. We Shamel Milling has clovers in stock and would be happy to provide some guidance if you are new at this. Try to shoot for having that seeding installed by the end of March...

Go to www.shamelmilling.com for an early order seed, lime and fertilizer order form. Promotion ends March 14th, 2012
