Paper Tuning
Share this
Most people know the basics to papertune a bow or can easily look them up online but there is a tuning method that many people dont know and if not properly done can cause many aggravating paper tuning sessions.
Its called Yoke Tuning. Yoke tuning is done to eliminate cam lean at full draw which reduces lateral nock travel. If the arrows are properly spined, I set centershot to recommended value from manufacturer, the designer will have a designed centrshot for the bow which is where I start at. I adjust nock height first to eliminate up and down tears. If you have a nock left tear you put the bow in a press and shorten the left side yoke by one turn and shoot again. The process is repeated until the tear is gone. With a right tear you would shorten the right side yoke. Depending upon the cam system onthe bow you may have to retime the bow at full draw to ensure cams are synched, this is true for most cam systems other than single cams.

One additional note about papertuning. If you are not getting a consistent tear, tears left one shot right the next that is caused by torquing the bow. Proper formed needs to be worked on to get a consistent tear before making changes to the bow.
